One Year

You've been gone for a year
Though it seems like forever.
I've cried many a tear
Seen the changes of weather.

Today I remember my grandmother
With a mix of love and pain.
As I stand with my mother
Kneeling beside her grave.

Death is so odd and elusive
Its' presence often intrusive
Veiled in dark mystery
To the beginning of history.

Now you dwell up above
I look skyward and feel your love.
I'll do my best to meet you there
Up in the clouds without a care.
